FAN FUNDS

Paul Kincaid, in Guffaw 4, notes that Eve Harvey's GUFF trip
report A Brighton Belle Meets Skippy (from 1985) is now
available. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be available in
Australia yet, despite Paul quoting an Australian price. Local
GUFF administrator Karen Pender-Gunn hasn't seen a copy yet.

ANY EXCUSE TO MISS A PARTY!

Rather than allow him to have a flat warming party, John
Bangsund's strangulated hernia decided that John would be far
better off in hospital. Sally Yeoland got him there and the
operation went well. In her second Bulletin, Sally reports "he
was discharged from St Vincents yesterday [July 3] and is at home
appreciating greatly being able to actually sleep, let alone in a
comfortable bed!"

PERIPATETIC FANS

Bruce Gillespie notes that Billy Pettit (an American fan, I
assume) will be in Australia, arriving in Melbourne on July 15
and heading for Alice Springs on the Ghan on July 19.

OTHER STUFF

Garry P Dalrymple notes "I have just come into the possession of
120 Science Fiction books from a Presbyterian Theology College's
library, which includes 19 ea Anthologies, several beb books and
additionally six 1976 to 1978 magazines. These books are unmarked
by the usual library spine labels, stamps or card pockets etc. It
looks as though most were bought in the early sixties ( ? ) by a
single enthusiast librarian or were brought in by students and so
represent an 'interesting' sample of the available SF of the day.

Of particular interest are several 'BEB' books,
published by 'Bill Ewington Books' Sussex Street Sydney ( NO
DATES! ), Printed - The Griffin Press, 262 Marion Street Netley
SA. Each book is exactly 160 pages, font size having been
adjusted to fit. Several have women in undress as the cover
image. Each is by a different author. Are these BEB books
of any value?, Are they by Australian Authors or all by 'Bill
Ewington'? I will list details of all of them if someone can
indicate to me who would be interested in buying them or
suggestions on how best to preserve them if they justify the
effort.

As an 'archive' I think they are more significant
than as inderviduals. Some are most likely first paperback
editions. Their condition varies, as you would expect for
books that have spent thirty plus undisturbed years on a library
shelf .

Please don't hesitate to pass this information
around to people like Merv Binns or that nice Mr Gillespie, as I
would really like to know what I have got.
